Hi Ella, so glad you like my books. Your idea, Yeti Doesn't Sun Tan, is so fun. Have you seen my snow monster books? Marcia Jones and I wrote Abominal Snowmen Don't Roast Marshmallows, Snow Monsters Do Drink Hot Chocolate, and Snow Monster Mystery. It would be fun to write another one! I live in Pennsylvania so maybe I could visit your school someday to see your picture. Have a great weekend, Debbie

Hey Jennifer, so glad you like Mermaid Tales. Which one did you read? Did you know there are three? Pretty soon there will be a fourth one called Danger in the Deep Blue Sea. In that one, Pearl gets chased by a shark! You can listen to part of it on this Mermaid Tales page.
You can find out about my other books on my book page. Swim free, Debbie

Dear Yaneli, Here is one way to make your characters have different personalities and make them 'real."
Jennifer, I'm glad you think my stories are interesting. I'd like to say writing is easy for me. Sometimes it is, but most of the time I must rewrite and rewrite a story to try to make it as interesting as I possiblity can. I also take most of my stories to my critique group, who gives me suggestions to make my stories better. Then my agent and editor give me more suggestions! The story I am rewriting now is one that I've been working on for at least four years.
Lexius, the conflict is the problem. Don't you think it is a problem when a ghost is haunting a house? But isn't it also a problem that Eddie's great aunt might loose her home because she can't pay for the rent? How does Eddie (and his dead uncle) help his aunt? That is the solution. What happens after he solved her problem (that is the resolution).
Jesse, suddenly I feel a strange need to make chocolate chip cookies. I wonder why? Have a great day (tomorrow is 12-12-12!) Debbie

Hi Mary! So glad you like Gargoyles Don't Drive School Buses. I have lots of favorites, including Santa Claus Doesn't Mop Floors. If you live near Chicago, you may have seen the cool gargoyles on the library there. That was part of the inspiration for our gargoyle book.
Alexius, it sounds like you have a report to do. I don't think I should do your report for you, but I will help. The purpose of any story I write is for the reader to have fun. I think if you read Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips, the rest will be obvious. The conflict is the same as the problem. And the solution is just what happens at the end. You might also like to check out my book report page. Good luck, Debbie

Hi Skyler! I love mermaids too. While you're waiting for the next Mermaid Tales book to come out at the end of January, you might like to try Mermaids Don't Run Track. Happy Thursday, Debbie
