Ghosts Don't Eat Potato ChipsHi Ethan, I'm so happy that you enjoy my books. Do you have a favorite? Click here for some that you might enjoy for Halloween. Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips isn't specifically a Halloween book, but it is a bit scary! Billy, hello is a greeting.
Ellison, I received your email, but since that page is for grown-ups, I will answer you here. Hello to you and your bffs! Most of my books have been published by Scholastic, although I've had other publishers as well and my newest series, Mermaid Tales, is published by Simon and Schuster. My writing page has lots of information about the writing process and I hope you'll check it out. I love the title of the book you're working on! Best, Debbie Dadey

Dear Ellison, Wow, you sound like you write a lot! I suggest that you take your favorite story and read it out loud. See if there are places that don't sound right and change them. Then look at your characters to make sure they are as interesting as they can be. Take a look at my writing page and do some of the things there to make your story better. Then when your favorite story is the best it can possibly be, look at the bottom of my writing page for places you might like to send it. If you have a local paper or school paper that is also an awesome possibility. Good luck and let me know how it is going.
Hello Li Mei! Suzy, it looks gold to me and I hear Laurel. How about you? Have a fintastic day, Debbie

Dear Suzy, the easiest part of writing for me is the first draft. I have a lot of fun with it. The hardest part is the rewriting. This video gives you an idea of my process. Sue, I'm glad you wrote me.
Hi Hana! I'm happy to have readers of any age. Have a great National Fire Prevention Week, Debbie

Dear Isabel, The Mermaid Tales books are available at Fairy Chasemost bookstores (you can always ask them to order them) or an adult in your life can order them directly online. Aniya, I write the words for the Mermaid Tales stories and Tatevik Avakyan draws the pictures. I love them! Do you? You can find out more about how I write on my writing page. Amaarah, I am so happy that you enjoy the Mermaid Tales series. I have such fun writing them!
Dooley student, you have a super fun school! I have been working on a new series idea so fingers crossed! Best, Debbie

Ghosts Don't Eat Potato ChipsDear Suzy, There isn't a leader in the Bailey School Kids books, but at different times one character might take the lead.
Friends, I will be taking a week break from answering your letters and will be getting to your questions late next week. Have a super beginning to October and enjoy some spooky stories, Debbie
