"Hi debbie I love your books! Today at school, I even acted out a whole movie of one of your books (The lost seahorse) and everyone loved it! In fact I got tons of Mermaid Tales books online! Some I already have so I am giving them away to my friends! And even though they say "Mermaids are for girls" All the guys in my class went to the book store to buy them! At first I thought they where kidding till I also went there and saw them reading it. They kinda got made fun of for reading a mermaid book. But I took care of that... "Dear Debbie, I just read Mermaid Tales the Royal Tea. I read your author's note about finding out you were royalty. Well, guess what? I am not 100% sure if I'm right, but I found out that there is a famous castle in Japan that is named after my mom's last name. She is Japsnese and she also told me my mom's great great great great....family members were kings and queens. The castle is still there to visit in Japan.So that must mean she is a princess which makes me one too!"

"Today was interesting. I was playing at the local lake in the cattails with my toy boat. I was mad, I mimicked my mom, “Mairim do this, Mairim do that, you’re the big sister!” I wailed. Then I heard the lifeguard blow his whistle. “Private swim! Everyone out of the water! Private Daughter Swim by order of the mayor! Everybody out!” I watched as the Mayor’s teenage daughter got out of her fancy car. She walked to the edge of the water and smiled at it, then walked in more. As I was watching from the bushes, I didn’t notice my toy boat was floating away from me and towards her! I tried to chase it, but the lifeguard saw me and yelled at me, “HEY! I SAID PRIVATE SWIM! OUT! OUT! OUT!” I was scared as I saw the girls security guards come towards me. I then ran home to my stupid new baby brother’s baby party. I opened the door and my mom asked me, “Mairim, where have you been? I asked you to help me today!” My brother Noraa walked by and said, “Hey squirt, you’re in trouble!” “Don’t call me—,” I was interrupted by my mom, “Mairim, you have a lot to think about now that you’re a big sister. You have more to think about than just yourself. Now please go get your baby brother.” I walked to go get him from his crib. As I handed him to my mom, everyone was in a awe. “Isn’t the baby adorable?” “The baby”: adorable!” “Such a strong looking baby!” “Takes after my side of the family.” Then my mom said, “Mairim, I want you to help feed the baby.” She put him in his high chair. “Do I have to?” I groaned. “When we’re too busy, you’ll be taking care of him so it’s never to early to learn. I picked up a spoon of baby food and tried to give it to him but he ignored me. I groaned and looked away, and then he took the bowl and threw it on em! Ugh! And everyone said, “Aw.” My mom chuckled and said, “don’t worry sweetheart! That’s just what babies do!” Then a friend of my mom’s who was late to the party came in and was admiring he baby, and she really wished she could have one. After the party, my parents were working in the garden, and they ignored me when I said they didn’t have time for me anymore. I had to change his diaper! Yuck! When I got tired and went to bed early, my mom came to check on me and I yawned. “Go on to sleep sweetheart.” “I worked so hard today,” I groaned. “I know, and thank you. But this is what you have to do for the family now.” I asked, “Mom, do you still love me too?” “Of course sweetheart,” she said. “Nothings changed. Just like we had enough love for your big brother Noraa after YOU came along.” “That’s different!” I complained. “Not at all. Now get some sleep. Tomorrow’s another big day. You’ll watch the baby again for me, won’t you?” she smiled. “I’ll do it for you mom,” I groaned. She kissed me goodnight. “That’s my girl. Now I’m in bed writing to you"

"Hi. I always try to write. I come up with great ideas like (not my best) fire breathing rubber duckies that venture off into mysterious swamps that have to save princesses that have to marry tidy princes or a made up animal with 7 legs and a kind heart. But the problem is, I would rather write on a computer then write with my hands. I always get other ideas, too. I have 3 sisters and we have a big backyard. I always put down my pens and leave my writing desk. I go play with my sisters. In some ways that might be good because I can get a new story idea but on the other hand, I am leaving my story.
