"I got bored in quarantine so I'm writing a story about a girl who goes to a new school! Here is the first chapter: A new day began in London, England, in 1903. Unboarding the newest train was Sara Crewe and her father, Douglas. Douglas was going off to battle, and was taking Sara to a small boarding school. As they got off their train, Sara asked, "Papa?" "What is it Sara? What are you thinking?" "Is this my new home? Is it Papa?" "It most certainly is, sweetheart. We've reached London, England! Let's see if we can give you a better view." And with that, Douglas put Sara on his shoulders. She was amazed, for she could see all of London! "You don't like it, do you?" said Douglas, noticing Sara's disappointed look. "Well, I suppose soldiers, even the bravest ones like you, don't really like going into battle either," Sara noted. Douglas chuckled. "That's one way to look at it," he said, just as he noticed one of their luggage pushers being crushed by Sara's many suitcases. "You have to admit, traveling on a boat all the way from Africa was a real adventure." "I suppose," Sara sighed. "All I could think about was that you're going to have to leave today." "Oh, Sara," said Douglas as he hugged his daughter. "I'm going to miss you terribly, but I know you'll be brave." "Of course." "Just remember, you're never alone. No matter what. God is always with you," he reminded her. "All the time," affirmed Sara. "Because He loves you," said Douglas. "Always. You're His princess!" "Princess?!" shouted a tourist, running over. "She's royalty, take a picture!" she exclaimed to her friend. Her friend chuckled. "I knew we'd see someone famous on the train, or my name's not Razzi. Papa Razzi." At last, Douglas and his daughter arrived at the school. It was a house which was turned into a small boarding school. "Here we are!" remarked Douglas, knocking on the door. "Miss Madame's School for Lovely Little Ladies. Are you ready sweetie?" Sara nodded. Suddenly, a friendly-looking woman opened the door. "Captain Crewe?" she spoke in her French accent. "Oh!" exclaimed Douglas. "You must be the headmistress!" "Me?" she chuckled. "Oh goodness, no..." "Miss Amelia, is that the captain?" called a voice from inside. "She is waiting for you," said Miss Amelia. "Inside." As they entered, they saw a tall woman standing in the dark. She had no expression on her face. Douglas smiled and took of his hat. "H-hello?" "I," said the woman as the lightning flashed, "am Miss Madame." "Lovely," murmured Douglas. "And this must be our Sara," said Miss Madame, observing the child. "It will be a great privelege to have charge of such a beautiful and promising child, Captain Crewe." "Sara's a true joy," happily said Douglas. "She's my little princess." Miss Madame faked a smile. "We rode a boat all the way from Africa!" Sara excitedly told her. "There was a storm one night at dinner, and the waiters kept dropping the dishes." One of the luggage carriers dropped a bag. "Ah, clever child is a great treasure in an establishment such as mine," sarcastically said Miss Madame, rolling her eyes. "Uh, where should we put these bags, before they crush us?" asked the lugger carriers in sync. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry! Thank you for your troubles," he said as he paid them. Just then, the luggage carriers ran off. "Amelia! Take our new guest's bags upstairs." ordered Miss Minchin. Miss Amelia struggled to push the heavy load upstairs. "Oh, allow me please!" exclaimed Douglas, ready to help. "No, I wouldn't dare of it! Miss Amelia LOVES to carry things," Miss Madame proclaimed as she glared at her. "Don't you Amelia?" "Of course," Miss Amelia barely said out of breath. "Though down the stairs is much easier." And suddenly, the luggage pushed her down the stairs, making Miss Madame angry. "I'll do my best to return for Sara's birthday," said Douglas. "But until then, she's to have anything she needs! I'll pay every bill you send me, without question!" "My goodness, Captain Crewe," stammered Miss Madame. "Are you certain? The room you have asked for is VERY costly." "Nothing to worry about," he assured her. "I have my money securely invested in diamonds!" "Diamonds!" exclaimed Miss Amelia, popping up from nowhere. "How exciting!" "Where did you come from?" angrily asked Miss Madame. "I am very excited!" exclaimed Miss Amelia. "Be sure to buy Sara a mountain of dolls!" continued Douglas. "Papa," smiled Sara. "Stop being silly, I only need one doll, to talk to while you're gone." "You mean, like this one?" said Douglas, pulling out a stuffed bear. Sara gasped. "A little bear!" "A teddy bear!" explained Douglas. "They're the latest thing!" "He's perfect," said Sara, hugging her father. "And he's short and squishy, so I will name him Mortimer like our old neighbor Mr. Mortimer." Sara then showed her bear to Miss Madame. "Mr. Mortimer owned a whole bunch of monkey, and he taught them to juggle bananas!" But then, Miss Madame started to sniff and make funny noises. "Igleh...igseh....igluff...tah.....AHHHCHOOOOO!" Miss Madame let out a big sneeze and her glasses fell off. "Oh dear. I seem to be...ALLERGIC...to your little doll," she said, fixing her glasses. "She sneezed on Mortimer," Sara whispered to her father. "Maybe keep him away from her, ok?" he replied. "Time to go. Are you learning me by heart?" "I know by you by heart!" she reassured him. "You are INSIDE my heart. Think about me everyday." "I will," said the Captain with his eys tearing up. "Everyday. I love you so much. No matter what." "I love you too Papa," Sara said as they hugged goodbye. Douglas then walked out the door. Sara sighed. Miss Madame rolled her eyes, "Now, you will put on your uniform, and report to class!""
