Fun Writing Activities to Print Out

NEW-Creating characters for books is so fun. It’s great to think of them before you start writing. Here are 2 charts to get started. They are based on the charts found in Story Sparkers by Debbie Dadey and Marcia Thornton Jones.

Eddie isn’t really mean, he just gets carried away sometimes. The other day he chatted online with us. Read what he said and then write your own interview.

It’s me, Bridgett Butt! I’m here to tell you that I love writing stuff. It all started when I had to write about the perfect school for a homework assignment. Now, you can do it too. Have fun!

Writing Activity-Add Your Own Ending

In the Bailey School Kids adventure, Mrs. Jeepers Creepy Christmas, Eddie reads the beginning of a story called Haunted Holiday outloud. We don't get to hear the ending. Here's your chance to write a creepy (but not too creepy) ending! Then send it to me on the Kids Talk Page. Don't scare yourself?

Haunted Holiday

Megan ran out of her hotel. She wanted to see the ocean before her brother. Crash! A big wave landed at her feet. Crash! Another wave got her legs wet. “Oh, no. Mom will be mad at me for getting my clothes wet. I should have changed into my . . "

That’s all Megan said because her next words were drowned out by a huge wave. It washed over Megan and dragged her under. Only this wave didn’t take Megan out to sea. It sucked her under the hotel. Megan’s brother, Tyler, ran onto the beach. His mother walked behind him at a slower pace.

“Where’s Megan?” her mother called. “I thought she came out here.”

“She did,” Tyler said. “She must be around here somewhere. I’ll check behind that rock.”

Tyler jogged up the beach to look behind a huge stone that sat at the water’s edge. Gentle waves lapped against the big rock. When Tyler got around to the other side, he expected to see his sister playing hide-and-seek. What he saw shocked him.
