Are you ready for fireworks on July 4th? If you'd like to see the reason we celebrate, come to the historic Moland House where I volunteer. From 1-4:00, we'll have a special exhibit of an original copy of the Declaration of Independence. Back in 1777 there were no copying machines, so some bright people found a way to make a copy using some sort of chemical process. Unfortunately the process damaged the original so that you can hardly read it. The Moland House will be displaying one of the first copies and you can actually see John Hancock's signature! If you live anywhere near Philly, ask your parents to bring you. See you there, Debbie

Hi Zachary, I hope you'll write to me again here on Kid's Talk. Alexus W., I'm sorry I couldn't write a letter back to you. I couldn't because there was no return address on the letter, so I hope you see this note. I'm glad you liked The Worst Name in Third Grade. Unfortunately sometimes kids do call other kids names. Molly, fourth grade is great. I loved my fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Forker (even though she spanked me for talking too much!). Sorry, I don't say kid's last names on my website because of safety concerns. Hope you are having a great summer and reading lots of fun books. Caroline, I am very excited that my new series comes out next summer. I'm having so much fun writing it. Today, I'm actually putting in some corrections my editor suggested for the second book. Gabrielle, your local library sounds very cool. I do have some summer books you might want to check out. I just finished reading my first summer book yesterday. I had to sit at the hospital all day while my daughter had surgery. Thankfully she is fine and recovering on the couch now, watching Grease. Hope you guys have a great day, Debbie

Gaby, I'd love to hear your title ideas. I hope Marcia and I will get to write more, but you never know. Anonymous, I love your play series. Very cool. I'm impressed. You can look at the plays on my teacher site to see how they can be formatted. My writing page may give you writing ideas. One year my daughter produced a play in our back yard.
