VAmpires    Hey Leigh, I'm so glad you liked Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots.  It was my first book and definitely one of my favorites along with Skeletons Don't Play Tubas.  Amanda, my favorite part of writing is the actual writing.  My least favorite is the rewriting part-changing it to make it better.  Check out my writing video to see how I really feel.  Hannah, I've been very lucky!  Take care, Debbie

angelHi NOYB, if I told you my deepest darkest secret then I guess it wouldn't be a secret any more!  Did you know that I took karate lessons and because my son is a higher belt I had to bow to him?
A big hello to Ciara and Louis.  Are you guys getting ready for your Winter Holiday?  I have been wrapping presents and putting up decorations which I love doing.  I think the most important thing is to remember the real reason for the holiday.  Many blessings, Debbie

Brrrr!  The North Pole has relocated to Pennslyvania.  It's so cold here I think I may have seen a polar bear!  Hope it's warm where you are and if anyone is in a nice warm place, please invite me to your school.  I need some sunshine!  Cool  Hello to our mystery person and Halle.  Yes Halle, I have three nephews who live in PA.  Take care, Debbie

Hi Ally, I'm so glad you like my books.  I like mystery and Snow Monster history too.  The Titanic would be fun to write about, I'm sure.  I have been to Gettysburg, but didn't spend the night at a hotel (I'm glad!).  Try to stay warm, Debbie

Hi Harmony, I'm glad you found me!  Please tell your nieces REindeer Dohello.  Since they are so young, they might enjoy the Bailey School Kids prequels, which are easier and have more illustrations.  In fact one of them, Reindeer Do Wear Striped Underwear, is available for a great bargain right now (just one dollar!).  Just click here for more information.
Unka-hi!  Siena, good luck in Pittsburg!  I'm glad you'll be living close to  your aunt and cousin.  It's exciting to be in a new place and having family close by will make it special.  Kayla, good to hear from you.  Have fun with Siena!
Santa Dog    Ciera, congratulations on your great report card.  Amanda, I have two brothers.  I grew up in a small house with a dog, two parents, and two brothers.  It was a pretty good childhood.  It takes different amounts of time from one week to eight years to write a book and I get ideas from everywhere-even the newspaper.  The Barkley School for Dogs books were based on things that happened to my dogs!
Vivian, it was so good to hear from you again.  I'm glad you like sixth grade, but I know it can be tough.  Do you take tests in reading?  I'd suggest talking to your teacher again to see if she can give you specific instructions on how to do The WRong Side of Magicbetter.  Maybe she can help you during resource or after school time?  Some teachers have websites that give study clues.  It may also be time to try reading harder books.  Ask your librarian if she has any of my new Keyholder series.  I hope you'll try one to see if you like it.  It's about three kids who find out that must keep the bad magic out of the real world with the help of a unicorn, a baby dragon, and a rat!   Good luck to you.  I hope you'll let me know how you're doing.  Best, Debbie
