Pirates are coming!  Pirates are coming!  Check out your June Lucky bookclub order for PIrates Do Ride Scooters.  The May Seesaw will have a set of the Bailey School Kids Junior Chapters books for you to try.

I went to visit a fun school yesterday here in PA.  Ashley and NIck, thanks for making me feel welcome.  Suzanne, I do plan on writing more.  I working on one today!  Anna, I was 29 when my first book came out and you never know-Anna is a good name for a book.

Allison, you must write me here for me to respond.  The events page is only for adults.  I was born in Morganfield, KY and you can check out my book page for awards.  Rey A., my favorite food is strawberries and sometimes dark chocolate makes me sick!

A big warm weather hello to Tarissa, Diana, Logan, Molly, Alasica, Brendan, Hanna, and Dakota.  Elizabeth, you might like to try the Bailey School Kids Junior books.  They are very similar to the Bailey School Kids books, but they have more pictures and less words.

Zoe, I grew up in Henderson, KY and rode my bike almost everyday during the summer.  We'd also play baseball alot, most of the time in Dougie Brown's backyards or we'd swing in my backyard with someone doing stand-up comedy (usually Dougie) in front of the swing.  He was so funny!  I went to college and got my masters in Library Science.

Carolynne, you can also order my books off my website or get them at a local bookstore.  Damani, The Swamp Monster in Third Grade Trapped in the Principal's Office is one of my favorites.  Leila, blue is my favorite color.  Juan, I do love to read.  Morena and Juan, writing is awesome because anything can happen when you write. You can create whole new worlds like in my upcoming Keyholders series.  I've written around 147 books, Leslie and Marco.   Natali, I write at home in my office and I do enjoy writing short books. Mateo, I don't really think I write terror books.  Do you?  Pedro, my first book came out in 1990.  Rachel, the idea for Angels Don't Know Karate came from the karate lessons I took with my son.  Marybeth and Emily, check out Bridgett's blog and website for more information about her.

Clarat and Camila, my three dogs are Bailey, Shadow, and Skip.  Skip just had a haircut and he looks bald!

ttyl and watch out for pirates, Debbie  (P.S. See some of you in Illinois next week.  Hurrah for my Hillary's win in PA!)

It's off to Maryland I go, hi-ho, hi-ho.  If you live in Maryland, you may be having a  subsititue teacher soon.  I'll be visiting with some teachers and talking with them about my books. Hopefully I'll sign some that your teacher can take back to your classroom.  Katie, I've written about 147 books.  Kyleigh, my first book came out in 1990 and I was married 25 years ago this coming June!

William, I was around 30 when my first book came out.  Brenton from Oz is much luckier-he's already published!  Way to go Brenton!  Jazmine, I get ideas from everywhere.  I just made a map of a fantasy land and I used my dad's name as one of the areas there.  I called it Voline Valley.  Now, I need to think of a name for the entire magic land.  Any ideas?  Magical greetings to Maye, Baylee (great Name), and Emily.

Bailey School Kids - EddieKasandra, I must admit Eddie is a bit on the wild side sometimes.  But the cool thing about writing is that anything can happen in a book.  Kids can be a little bit crazier in a story than in real life!  In a story, a girl can have the worst name in the world, like Butt.  But Sarah, perhaps there is a name that's even worse?    Ashley, I think that's why it is fun being an author-anything can happen!  One reason I wanted to be an author was because I like reading so much Kenny.  Jacob, I do like to read, but other hobbies include tennis and scrapbooking.

I liked third grade too Kevin-only I thought my teacher was mean!  I realized later that she probably wasn't mean-it's just that I liked to talk way too much!  Do you ever have that problem?  Take care and don't forget to check out Bridgett's Blog, Debbie

SunglassesSun The sun is shining!  Hurrah!  As you can see, my webmaster is back.  Welcome home!  Kyleigh, Amanda, Kasey, and Vanessa you can find out more about me on the Swamp page and on the Events page (About us).  Chrisson, I have been married 25 years.  Carley, I was born in Kentucky. My first book was Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots.  Jason from Ohio, I'm glad you liked Aliens Don't Wear Braces.  Kate, glad I got to go to the Literature Festival.  A special howdie to Odie, Aliayh, and Tom.

Juquashia and Corinne, it would be cool to come to your school next year.  Can you believe this school year is almost over?  How many weeks do you have left?  Kelly, it's cool that Marcia came to you school.

Crockett, yes, all the characters I write about I created (or if I wrote the book with Marcia or Nathan, we created them together.)  It takes different amounts of time to write different books.  Clay, thanks for the cool idea.

Brenton, tell me more about becoming a published author.  This is exciting!  I have one of your letters on my desk to answer.  Hey, Concetta.  I'm glad you liked Whistler's Hollow.  Look for the sunshine wherever you are!  ttyl, Debbie

Hope you're having a great week.  I'm heading for New York state and hope to have some fun.  Just to let Leon know, he can check out the Swamp Club for more information on me.  (Leon, did you know I can still do a cartwheel?)

My webmaster is at a funeral this week, so if your email isn't posted, don't worry it will be when she gets back.  Take care of yourself.  You're the only you in the whole world!  Best, Debbie

Guess what?  I'm going to star in my own TV show!  It'll be called Dancing with Debbie!  April Fools!  Sorry, I thought I'd get a headstart on tomorrow's April Fool's Day.  But no fooling, Kasey I wish you continued success in Middle School and good luck with your boyfriend.  Just remember, you're cool whether you have a boyfriend or not.  April greetings to cool kids Vanessa, Alyssa, Megan, Concetta, Samantha, Sarah, Zoey, Jessica, and Nicole!

Jessica, I've written 21 books by myself and all the rest with writing partners.  I hope you'll enjoy Whistler's Hollow and also The Worst Name in Third Grade.  Debbie (great name!) the Keyholder's series comes out in April of next year.  It should be in all bookstores.

Kerissa, I went to Western Kentucky University.  It takes different amounts of time to write a book Casey, from two weeks to eight years!  Julia, books that have taken over one year are:  Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips, Cherokee Sister, and Shooting Star.  Rahul, I loved your ending.  Katie, my birthday is May 18th.

My first book was inspired by a bad day.  Jeremy, that book was Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots.  Christine, the Bailey School Kids Junior chapter book series has more pictures and a bit easier text than the regular series.  The chapter books are only available through the Scholastic book clubs and 1-800-Scholastic.  Some reps at that number cannot order from the clubs, but some can.  I am hoping that next year they will go into trade because I think they are a lot of fun.  The next title will be Caveman Do Drive School Buses, which comes out in September.  Take care, Debbie
