The Polar Bear ExpressDear Chapel Hill Public Library Jr. Book Club, thanks for celebrating my birthday.  I did have a lovely day-I had carrot cake (one of my favorites!)  Today is a book birthday!  My newest book comes out today, it is The Polar Bear Express.  Kiki and her friends try to help a lost polar bear cub find his way home.  Do you think they will make it?  Graham, good luck with your writing.  Did you know my newest book has lots of poetry in it? 
     Joshua and Pancakeater, I was delighted to visit your school!  William, I like Eddie too.  It usually takes around a month to write a Bailey School Kids book.  A big hello to Lauren the Blue Kiwi and Noni!  Kiera, hope you'll like my newest Mermaid Tale.  Alysah, the polar bear is named Nestor.  It's hard to pick favorites, but this newest one might just be it!  Norah, I like Werewolves Don't Go To Summer Camp (Morgan and Skylar that is #2) this time of year, as well as Ghost Game.  Skylar, for a full list of the Bailey School Kids books, click here.
     Yes, Faith I do like all animals, particulary dogs.  I have dogs as pets.  Faith, guess what?  My This Side of Magicdaughter Becky sky-dived too!  She did it a few years after me and wanted to do it by herself!  She is a brave girl.  Jordan, I was very scared when I skydived!
     Zac, Sam, Jillian, and Sarah, Brayden, Jillian, Marisol, thanks for your fun ideas!  Rylee, I am working on another series.  I hope it works out!  Actually it was rather hard to write This Side of Magic.  Marcia and I brainstormed for a Aliens Don't Wear Bracesyear about it before we even started writing!  Yes, Kholi, I feel very blessed to be able to write for a living.  Newman and Abby, I have sold 162 stories to be made into books.
     Isabella and Kay, so glad you like Aliens Do't Wear Braces.  Is your art teacher an alien?  Kay, the phone book was a great place to get names for the Bailey School Kids series.  Sorry, Brayden I wasn't sure what your question was about.  Hope you have a great day.  Samantha, Melody, and Addison-I am thrilled that you love my books.  Do you have favorites?  Megan, Mikayla, and Karleigh, I think I am a bit like Melody because I like sports.  Mikayla, did you know the Bailey School Kids Junior Chapter Books do use DO?  Kayla, I'm so glad you like Dragons Don't Cook Pizza.  Suddenly, I'm hungry for pizza!  Madison, Ashley, and Kayla-I loved your school's doors!  They were so cool!  I put some of them up already on my Facebook page and plan to put them on my website too.  Have an awesome day!  God bless, Debbie

Dear Ella, I am so glad you like the Mermaid Tales The Polar Bear Expressseries.  Guess what?  The book that somes out in September is called Wish Upon A Starfish!  Carolina, I really like the book that comes out on May 19th.  It is The Polar Bear Express.  Hope you will like it too!

Hey Kaylei, I am glad you like Mermaid Tales.  Do Dream of the Blue Turtleyou have a favorite?  Lila, I hope you are enjoying Dream of the Blue Turtle.  Kiera,  I like Echo too!  So happy that you like The Lost Princess.  Emma and Lily, I think it would be cool if there are mermaids and anything is possible!  Amelia, I had three books come out in 2014.  Marissa, I get ideas from everywhere.  The idea for Leprechauns Don't Play Basketball came from the fact that I like basketball.  Hi Crew and Cameron!  Isabella and Briana, I do have trouble with words sometimes.  When that happens, I try to think about what should happen first, second, and third.  
     Ariana, Max, and Logan I like to read a lot, so I wanted to write because I thought it would be awesome for someone to read something I wrote!  Giulia, the angel in Angels Don't Know Karate is named Miss Michaels.  Tessa, I haven't illustrated any of my books.  Allie, Lucy, and Sanaya, thanks for your great ideas.  Sanaya, have you seen Gargoyles Don't Drive School Buses? Lucy, so happy you enjoyed Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots.  Katie, hope you will like Unicorns Don't Give Sleigh Rides.
     Luke, the idea for Keyholders came from a border of trees and bushes near my home.  Marcia and I took that and brainstormed the rest!  Have a great week, Debbie

Hi May, I am so glad you like the Mermaid Tales.  Do Angels Don't Know Karateyou have a favorite?  Hey Melody, I'd love to visit your school!  Christopher, I've sold 162 stories to be made into books.  The angel in Angels Don't Know Karate is named Miss Michaels.  Ashlynne, I actually don't know how many schools I have been to, but it's a lot!
     Costa, thanks for volunteering!  Caroline, I'm glad you thought I was funny.  Audrey, there are 51 numbered Bailey School Kids books, as well as many more special and super specials.  Allie, I'm delighted you enjoyed Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots.  Costa, that was my first book.  Alysha, when we wrote that book we pretended that Mrs. Jeepers was a vampire.  Do you think she is?
     Molly and Gavin, I am thrilled that you like the Keyholder series.  It would be fun to write another one.  Molly, you are a fast reader!  Anna, thanks for Frankenstein Doesn't Slam Hockey Pucksyour fun idea!  Jaden, Andrew, Ashlee, and Maeve-I am so glad you love my books!  You make me feel special!  Jacob, I was 27 when I sold my first book.  A big hello to Fog, Tristan, and Dude.

Dear Bethany, I have been lucky and have not gotten much in the way of bad reviews.  I am sorry to hear that your friend is being bullied.  I hope you can tell a teacher so that your friend can get help.  You are a nice person to help your friend.
     Izay and Darien, I am honored that I am your favorite author.  Anthony, I am half of a hundred, plus ten minus five. 
     Guess what Anthony, Lucky, Amelia, and Stephanie?  Marcia and I wrote a book that tells what is in the box.  Is is Mrs. Jeepers Creepy Christmas.
     Sam, Nolan, Sanaya, Gregory, and Jeff-thanks Vampires don't Wear Polka Dotsfor your fun ideas!  Alyssa, it is hard for me to pick a favorite.  But I have a new book coming out this month and I really like it!  It is called The Polar Bear Express.
     Lily, I get ideas from everywhere, even the newspaper.  Allie and John, I am so glad you like Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots.  Katie, when we wrote the story we pretended that Mrs. Jeepers was a vampire, do you think she is?  Audrey, so glad you like Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips.  Richard, you never know.  Perhaps someday we'll get to write more Bailey School Kids books.
